Hon’ble Lt. Governor has cancelled the DSSSB examination for the post of Primary Teachers for MCD schools-2017 held on 29.10.2017. The move followed a report by Delhi Police on the issue of alleged cheating in the examination.
The examination was held on 29.10.2017 and on allegations of cheating, an FIR was registered on the same day by the Delhi Police and matter was handed over to the Crime Branch for a swift investigation. Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Delhi had directed Commissioner of Police, Delhi to investigate the matter from all angles in a time bound manner.
In the latest report now submitted by Delhi Police, it has been apprised that a number of suspects are possibly involved. Twenty accused persons have already been arrested. Delhi Police has also submitted that the use of social media and technology has come to light and prima facie, the number of alleged beneficiaries is also large. As such, the possibility of the examination sanctity being violated cannot be ruled out. Acting on the report, Hon’ble Lt. Governor has cancelled the said examination.
Further, Hon’ble Lt. Governor has issued directions that Chairperson, DSSSB should conduct the examination again expeditiously so that the vacancies of teachers are filled as soon as possible. Hon’ble LG has advised that while doing so, DSSSB may review their systems and methods of conducting the examination thoroughly and also look into the modus operandi employed by the accused so that in future all such loopholes can be plugged.
Finally, as per the investigation conducted by police so far, a number of staff of Education Department appear to have been involved in an organized manner in cheating/ copying. At least one of them has reportedly been involved in a similar case earlier also. Hon’ble LG has directed that Secretary (Education) must take strict disciplinary action against all such staff identified so far and submit an action taken report within ten days.
