Delhi Government to be asked for free coaching to teachers to prepare for written examination
On selection, their experience would be counted in service
Lt. Governor, Sh. Najeeb Jung today conveyed his consent for giving age
relaxation to Guest Teachers in their eligibility as teachers in the
Delhi Government service. The 17,000 Guest Teachers have been agitating
for this and other demands for a long time. The Leader of Opposition in
the Delhi Vidhan Sabha, Sh. Vijender Gupta met LG today at Raj Bhawan
requesting him to personally ensure that their legally tenable demands
are settled at the earliest on humanitarian ground. The teachers have
been demanding relaxed norms for their regularization. Sh. Gupta was accompanied by MLAs Sh. O.P. Sharma and Sh. Jagdish Pradhan.
LOP sought due weightage to teaching experience in Delhi Government
service. LG informed that he and Dy. Chief Minister had agreed to refer
the matter for legal opinion. LG agreed that on selection, their
experience as guest teachers would be counted in their service. He,
however, informed that Solicitor General has opined that it would not be
legally tenable to count their experience before their selection as
teachers on permanent basis. LOP suggested LG that Chief Minister
should be asked to have an all party meet under his auspices to find out
possibility of solution to this contentious issue.
The
Opposition Leader requested LG for free coaching of Guest Teachers so
that they could be better equipped to take the written examination for
regular jobs of teachers conducted by the Delhi Subordinate Services
Selection Board (DSSSB). According to Mr. Gupta, LG agreed to the
proposal. He assured that the Delhi Government would be directed to
arrange for free coaching to Guest Teachers. He assured all help to the
Guest Teachers in pursuing their career.
Leader of
Opposition urged LG that the services of 17 Guest Teachers whose
services were terminated for participating in the protests,
demonstration and dharnas highlighting their grievances during April
must be regularized. There was nothing on record against these teachers
till they participated in the demonstration. LG assured that he would
ask the Delhi Government to sympathetically examine the matter.
Leader of Opposition along with other BJP MLAs met Lt. Governor to
personally ensure on humanitarian ground that the matter is settled at
the earliest.
