Reg. : Meeting with Chairman, Seventh Central Pay Commission
Today I had an Introductory Meeting with the
Chairman, Seventh Central Pay Commission, Hon’ble Justice Shri Ashok Kumar
Mathur in the afternoon, Ms Meena Agarwal, Secretary and Shri Vivek Rae,
Member, Pay Commission, were also present on this occasion. While offering
welcome to Hon’ble Justice Mathur. I explained in brief the peculiar working of
the Railwaymen in keeping the wheel of the Indian Railways moving round the
clock 24x7 in all weathers and climatic conditions as also about their
aspirations from the VII CPC. I also told him that the VII CPC has also been established
only after the strike ballot conducted by us, but what we find that the lower
level staff is not getting legitimate benefits which they deserve.
Ms Meena Agarwal also made a brief mention about the
functioning of the Indian Railways and the nature of duties of the Railwaymen.
Hon’ble Justice Mathur assured us that the VII CPC
would try to do their best in improving upon various service conditions and
wage structure etc. of the Railwaymen and asked us to submit our views in our
Memorandum, to be considered by the VII CPC.
Ms Meena Agarwal, Secretary, Seventh Pay Commission,
vide her D.O. letter No. 7CPC/Memorandum/12 dated 29.04.2014 (photocopy
enclosed for ready reference) has sought our detailed Memorandum to be
submitted to the VII CPC by 30th June, 2014.
Apart from the above, I also met Ms Meena Agarwal on
25th April, 2014 and requested her to extend time frame for replying
the Questionnaire relating to VII CPC.
Further Development in the matter shall be advised to
you promptly.
