GRADE PAY 4200 TO LIBRARIAN W.E.F. 01-01-2006

The DOE  has Order to revised the Grade Pay of Librarian from Rs. 4600 to Rs. 4200 as per the 6th CPC. The Text matter of which is given below:-

ORDER

It has come to the notice that in Education Department, Librarians are drawing the pay and allowances in PB-2 Rs. 9300-34800 plus Grade Pay of Rs. 4600. As per 5^th CPC, the post of Librarian carries the pay scale of Rs. 5500-9000 and 6^th CPC recommended the Grade Pay of Rs. 4200/- corresponding to the said revised pay scale.

Ministry of Human Resources Development, Department of School Education and Literacy (GOI) was consulted in the regard which has conveyed that the correct pay scale of Librarian in pre revised scale of Rs. 5500-9000 is pay band II with grade pay of Rs. 4200/-. The Ministry has made reference to para 3.8.13 and 7.57.21 of report of 6^th CPC which is reproduced below :-

“Para 3.8.13: the 5^th CPC had recommended distinct cadre structure for Librarians. Consequent to up gradation of all Group ‘D’ posts being recommended by the commission, the posts of Library Attendant Grade-II and I shall stand merged and placed in revised pay scale of PB-I of Rs. 4860-20200 along with grade pay of Rs. 1800 after their skills are suitably enhanced. The post of Library and Information Assistant (present scale Rs. 5500-9000) will come to lie in the revised Pay Band of PB-2 of Rs. 8700-34800 along wih grade pay of Rs. 4200.

Para 7.57.21 : Recommendations made in chapter 3.8 in respect of Librarians and the Library staff shall also be extended to the similarly placed post in UT of Delhi.”

Matter was also placed before Finance Department for clarification and they have clarified to fix the pay of the post of Librarians of Education Department in the revised pay structure of PB-2 Rs. 9300-34800 plus Grade Pay of Rs. 4200/- w.e.f. 01/01/2006 as per said clarification and details of over payment already made be intimated to Headquarter to examine the issue of recovery of over payment.

These issues with the prior approval of competent authority.
